Smoke alarms

Smoke alarms in private households have been required by law since 2013. The detectors must be installed in bedrooms and children's rooms, as well as on the ceilings of corridors and stairs inside flats. Most smoke alarm devices work according to the scattered light principle. A beam of light is sent through the smoke chamber of the detector using a diode. As soon as the light beam is interrupted, the sensor sends a signal and the smoke detector alarm goes off. Smoke detectors and fire alarms from our range offer you and your family optimal protection.

Buying fire alarms and smoke detectors - what types are there?

The smoke detectors DOF19 and DOF39 from our range detect smoke with an optical sensor that triggers an alarm as soon as the light beam is interrupted. An alarm signal sounds, which, at a volume of 85 dB, can also be heard during sleep. This ensures reliable protection in any living space of up to 30 square metres in the event of a risk of smoke or fire. The detectors are battery operated and therefore work independently of any power supply. If the battery power is too low, a signal tone is triggered. In addition, modern detectors are equipped with a test function and a mute switch. The detectors comply with DIN EN 14604 and are required by law in private households throughout Germany.

Smoke and fire alarms must be properly installed

The smoke detector is always installed on the ceiling of the bedroom or children's room. The best place is in the middle, close to the ceiling light. If the flat is on one floor, another detector must be installed in the hallway. In multi-storey houses, a detector should be installed on each floor. The DOF19 and DOF39 detectors are equipped with the necessary screws and dowels for easy installation on the ceiling. Installation is easier with self-adhesive magnetic holders from our range. The bracket plates are glued to the ceiling and the back of the smoke detector. The detector can be easily removed for renovation, testing or changing the battery.

Buying fire alarms and smoke detectors - what you should pay attention to

If you want to buy smoke detectors that increase your security in the house or flat, the models should comply with DIN EN 14604. These devices reliably detect fire smoke and issue an acoustic signal with a volume of around 85 dB. There should be a test function and a mute switch on the front of the smoke detector for a functional test or for muting during various renovation work. For houses and flats with several living rooms and floors, it is advisable to purchase sets that contain several detectors.
